Library Shelfie Day is an annual celebration on the fourth Wednesday in January (January 28, 2026) where book lovers share selfies with their favorite bookshelves (at home or in a library) on social media using the hashtag #LibraryShelfie to promote reading and the relevance of physical books. Started by the New York Public Library, it's a fun way to show off book collections, discover new reads, and celebrate the joy of literature.
How to participate:
Take a photo: Snap a selfie with your personal bookshelf or a great display at your local library.
Get creative: Arrange books by color, height, or hold up a favorite title to make your photo unique.
Share with the library: send your photos to us via Instagram, Facebook, or email at fullib@ncls.org and we'll feature them on our social media!
